What to Wear, See & Eat on Your Dream Greek Island Holiday

Greece

Island elegance, warm hospitality, and crystalline waters just perfect for a swim.
Greece in summer feels like a dream. With a plethora of idyllic islands to pick, each island has its own personality making it super hard to pick, but they all share something special: good food, kind people, endless sea, and slow days.

The culture in Greece is warm, spontaneous and inviting. Life here unfolds around long outdoor meals, early morning swims, and lazy afternoons in the shade. Greek cuisine is all about freshness, seafood, olives, lemon, local cheeses, and hospitality, of course, is second nature.

Expect dry heat with temperatures between 30–35°C and lots of sunshine from June to early September.

Where to Go, Local Culture and Atmosphere

There are so many incredible places and islands to visit in Greece, it doesn't make our lives easier, but, we needed to pick a few of the most incredible islands. These places boast natural beauty and are also perfect locations if you intend to have a romantic getaway.

Mykonos

Mykonos is all energy. Beach parties, boutique shopping, and chic clubs blend with charming Cycladic architecture and working fishing villages. It's where high fashion meets barefoot luxury.

Santorini

Santorini is quieter, more romantic, and known for its cliffside villages and epic sunsets. It’s ideal for couples or travellers who want to slow down and soak it all in.

Paros and Milos

Paros and Milos offer the relaxed, unfiltered beauty of the Greek islands. They’re less commercial, full of hidden heavenly beaches, local tavernas, and charming harbour towns.

One of my most fond memories of Milos was eating a delicious freshly cooked octopus in a gorgeous quaint little coastal town. 🐙

Where to Eat

Mykonos

M-eating (Mykonos Town) – Modern Greek dining with local ingredients and creative flair, set in a charming Cycladic house—perfect for a relaxed yet elevated evening.

Kiki’s TavernHidden above the quiet beach of Agios Sostis, Kiki’s is an unmarked, electricity-free taverna famous for its grilled meats, fresh salads, and no-reservations policy. The atmosphere is rustic and slow-paced.

La Maison de Katrin (Mykonos Town) – An elegant family-run restaurant offering refined Greek-French cuisine in a cosy, candlelit setting—a true Mykonian classic.

Santorini

Selene (Pyrgos) – Michelin-awarded modern Greek

Metaxi Mas – Local, creative, with beautiful mountain views. A perfect spot for dinner and your Insta post.

Ammoudi Fish TavernA waterfront gem below Oia serving the freshest seafood in an unforgettable setting. Iconic, unpretentious, and truly Greek.

Paros & Milos

Soso (Naoussa) – Inventive and intimate, most beloved hidden gems. Dishes arrive like edible art, often featuring unexpected combinations (like fig and balsamic octopus or stuffed zucchini flowers) that make each bite feel like a discovery.

O Hamos! (Milos) – Farm-to-table and full of soul, this rustic spot is famous for its use of homegrown produce, handwritten menus, and heirloom recipes passed down for generations.

Medusa (Mandrakia) – Right on the edge of the tiny fishing village of Mandrakia, with its iconic boat houses just steps from your table. This seaside taverna is all about simple, honest flavours served with a front-row seat to the Aegean. This is where I had my first grilled octopus dish! yum!
